Buffalo’s amazing collection of 19th and 20th Century architecture was featured on the cover of the Nov. 16, 2008 edition of the New York Times Arts & Leisure section in an article aptly titled “Saving Buffalo’s Untold Beauty”. The article dominated the front page of the Arts & Leisure section with a breathtaking photo of Daniel Burnham’s Ellicott Square Building as seen from Louis Sullivan’s Guaranty Building. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the world famous Radio City Rockettes returns to Shea’s Performing Arts Center in downtown Buffalo’s Theater District for 36 performances from November 13-30. After almost ten years of planning, fundraising and construction, the New Burchfield Penney Art Center will open to the public on November 22, 2008 with round-the-clock festivities. Designed by Gwathmey, Siegel & Associates Architects, the 84,000 square foot building is dedicated to the art and vision of Charles E. Burchfield and distinguished artists of Western New York State. It houses more than 7,500 works and contains the largest public collection of works by one of America’s greatest watercolorists, Charles E. Burchfield. more info >
